Maple Leaf Ltd is the legal name for the private practice of Mr Edward Pringle, Consultant Ophthalmologist. This privacy policy explains how we use personal information we collect about you when interact with us.

Your details

We collect information about you when you contact us directly by phone, email or post. We further collect information should you decide to register with us.

At the practice we keep your medical records confidential and we comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We hold your medical record so that we can provide you with safe care and treatment.

Personal information which you supply to us may be used in a number of ways, for example:

• To contact you and set up appointments

• For medical records and letters

• To process payment from insurance companies

• For audit and debt collection

• For statistical analysis

(i) We will share relevant information from your medical record with other health or social care staff or organisations when they provide you with care. For example, we will share information if we refer you to another specialist. Also, Mr Pringle will send a letter to your GP and/or optician following your consultation (if you choose to provide us with their details).  

(ii) Healthcare staff working directly with Mr Pringle will also have access to your records to ensure safe care.

(iii) We may share your information with insurance companies. Should you have indicated insurance details for financial cover we will pass your details to the insurer. Information provided by you may be put onto a register of claims and shared with other insurers to prevent fraudulent claims. 

(iv) We will share your information with a medical billing service provider for invoicing and payment collection purposes. Our billing partner is called “Civica Medical Billing and Collection” (MBC). We will only share the information required for Civica to process an invoice with your specified payment option; this can be an insurance company, third party partner or self-pay patients. The information shared includes personal details, contact details and billing information we hold on file for you.

(v) We will not disclose any information to any other company except to help prevent fraud or if required to do so by law.
